FAQ
No. You don't have to help us with the sailing. However, we're happy to include you if you wish and teach you the basics of sailing.
If you are not part of an organized group, we will travel with a maximum of 4 participants.
As a private group, you can register up to seven additional friends/club members or join a group. This will benefit from lower event participation costs. Separate events are planned for group bookings (see event calendar). Other dates may be possible upon request for a private group booking – as long as no individual spots have been reserved.
Your membership fee and event fee cover the following services for a one-time trip:
Land transfers to and from the ship
Accommodation in a double cabin including private toilet/shower
Full board, including soft drinks, excluding alcohol
Highly qualified and experienced skipper with co-skipper
Use of our sports center* (diving, freediving, kiting, wing foiling, paddleboarding (SUP), surfboards, snorkeling, spearfishing)
local dive guides where required or desired
deep-sea fishing
Motorized inflatable boat for excursions and wakeboarding or foiling
National Park and Marina Fees
Not included are travel to and from the ship, overnight stays and meals on land.
We're happy to organize individual diving, kitesurfing, or surfing courses on board for you, but these are charged separately. Nutritional advice or mental coaching can also be offered directly on board.
* Appropriate certificates of competency are required for diving and kitesurfing. Insurance is required for equipment use and diving. If you don't have insurance, we can offer you one here.
In Fiji, we primarily operate in the west of the main island of Viti Levu, around the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands. Depending on wind, weather, and wave conditions, we select the ideal islands and bays for your interests, even at short notice.
In New Zealand, we're traveling on the North Island, north of Auckland. From Whangarei, both the Bay of Islands and Auckland, along with all the islands in between, are accessible within a day trip.
This way, we have enough time between events to get the ship ready for the next participants, so everything is perfectly prepared for you from the very first minute. And, in our experience, 'only' 7 days on the ship simply go by too quickly given the many opportunities on site and the long journey.
We recommend that you arrive at least one or two days early, so that you have time to arrive, get acclimatized on land, and then enjoy your time on board from the very first day and make the most of it.
In order to allow the impressions and experiences to sink in and prepare you for the return flight, a few days on land are also recommended.
If there isn't a specific event happening, this may be possible. It's best to let us know of your request well in advance so we can plan ahead.
Fiji's climate is tropical, with a dry season from May to October and a period of frequent short showers and high humidity from November to April. Winds are generally light to moderate, mainly southeast trade winds, which blow year-round.
Temperatures are warm year-round, with the driest period and more pleasant temperatures between 25 and 27 °C from May to October.
The water temperature in Fiji is pleasantly warm year-round and fluctuates little, with averages ranging between 25 and 29 °C. Temperatures are highest in January and February and only slightly lower in the coolest months of July and August.
Insurance is the responsibility of the participants and is mandatory for diving and equipment use. If necessary, we can arrange insurance with DAN (diving) and with Safety Tools from the VDWS (equipment insurance).
We recommend purchasing travel insurance for your trip to ensure you're covered in the event of a cancellation or lost luggage, etc. It's also always best to book a flex ticket when booking flights, so you won't incur any additional costs in the event of a delay.
Of course, you can have the miles you sail with us recorded. Our events are specifically designed for the Fiji-New Zealand-Fiji crossings and also last at least 14 days. This requires more flexibility, but the event costs are significantly reduced. If you're interested, just inquire.
